Fortune Food

When I used to work in Chinatown area, I love getting a springroll a.k.a Popiah, from Fortune Food.

Fortune Food Stallfront
Their popiah consists of mainly grated, steamed or stir-fried turnip/jicama (known locally as bangkuang) combined with other ingredients suchs as bean sprouts, carrot, minced garlic, grated peanuts, eggs, shredded cucumber and coriander leaves. It is wrapped in a soft, thin paper-like crepe made from wheat flour along with some sweet sauce.

Some outlets I've been to uses lettuce and other variations of popiah may include pork, chinese sausage, tofu, shallots, shrimp or crab meat.

Springroll ($1.30)
I really enjoy their popiah because it's not too wet or dry and thanks to a good addition of shredded cucumber, each bite is always refreshing and tasty.

Don't play play! Got photo with former president ok!
They have outlets across the island and they do sell Cuttlefish Kangkong as well as DIY Popiah Party Sets! If you intend to hold a high tea session or have no idea what to bring for potluck or gatherings, why not roll popiahs together? I'm sure it will be great fun for adults or kids! =D
