Adventure for Food - Kuala Lumpur

Went with Makan Boy to KL for a food adventure! Basically we walked around and try whatever we think might be good or is recommended from reviews we read!

First stop is Restoran Lee Tong Kee which we passed by while on the way to Jalan Petaling.

Restoran Lee Tong Kee - Ipoh Sar Hor Fun
We had arrived late in KL and it was around 3pm when we walked in for a bowl of hor fun so the whole place was empty.

One of the few rustic old shophouse restaurant
The indian helper in the kitchen and the ladyboss I believe.
Shredded Chicken Hor Fun (RM$5)
Tasty prawn dumplings
Slurpsssssssssss!
It wasn't until I'm back in Singapore before I googled them out and know that they are the same brand as the one we have in Singapore! We tried the Shredded Chicken Hor Fun with prawn dumplings. The hor fun is smooth and the soup is quite salty but nonetheless tasty. The prawn dumpling was yummy too!

Lee Tong Kee
No. 77 Jalan Tun H.S. Lee

Moving on...

It was to Jalan Petaling!
Pasar Malam style with many stalls selling fake branded goods
Plenty of food stalls too!

Roasted Chestnut aroma in the air~
Good value!
"Top notch standard"
All the flavours
Interesting flavours!
I dont think any muah-chee vendors in Singapore has that many flavours.

Queen of muah-chee!
The articles also spoke on how she neither thought of retiring nor pass the recipe to anyone.

Assorted flavours
Ribena
Mango
Personally, the texture of her muah-chee is really good! Soft, chewy but the special flavours weren't really outstanding.

Air Mata Kucing
With ice is really with ALOT of ice..
Their bak kwa taste normal to me..
A closer look at the prices..

We walked on and saw this really cluttered space of peanut pancake and wanton mee stall!

Kedai Koon Kee and Peanut Pancake stall (in the foreground)
Old school~
Was a bit concerned by how messy the table was..
His skill in cooking the pancakes was nice to watch.
And then the fragrance of the pancake started to spread!
Tadah!
Slightly different than those we have in sg. The peanut filling was ok but the pancake was not as fluffy and light. Still it was not bad!

Walk further inside and you will see Koon Kee Wan Tan Mee.

Koon Kee Wan Tan Mee
Looks good taste good!
I love how tasty their sauce is with the noodles! However, the char siew was a bit hard. =/

About the same as in sg. Msg soup and small slippery wantons!
Random shot just to showcase their cart design!
Restoran Kim Lian Kee
Quite alot of youngsters!
Signature dish a must here!
This door got me wondering what's behind..
And I was like the most suaku person on earth going "WA! elevator for food!"
The noodles!
Hokkien Mee (RM $7)
Fried squid!
The Hokkien Mee is a must try! Distinct fragrance and super tasty black sauce that is sinfully good! Plus the loads of pork lard makes it even bettahh~~

Sambal
Cantonese Style Mixed Kuey Teow & Mee Hoon (RM $7)
It was O K.
When we pass by Kim Soya Bean it was like looking at some frantic rush for water. LOL. Ok not so exagerrating but there was a big crowd just standing around the small stall slurping the soya bean milk/beancurd.

Best moments are at Kim Soya Bean
Slurpers everywhere around~
Business super good
If it attracts such a big crowd, it must be good!

Tau Fu Fa (RM $1.30)
And it sure was worth the try! Smooth, slippery, silky, soft.. it's all that a soya beancurd should be like!

Didn't notice the bottle when I took this photo
Love their theme colours!
First time in Krispy Kreme and I ordered this chocolate custard donut!
"Look! I'm glowing cause I'm that awesome!"
And at night it was off to Jalan Alor area in KL for our next dining destination!

Jalan Alor area has a whole stretch of Zi Char restuarants and street stalls selling snacks and fruits.

On the left - all the restaurants. On the right - all the street stalls.
This place was bustling with energy and patronised by many hungry people hehe...

Cu Cha Restaurant
Makan Boy had came here before with his friends and loves the stingray they offer! Even their big signboard is of their bbq stingray! *slurps*

I like that their prices are at a fixed rate depending on how many grams ordered, unlike sg's seasonal prices (which till today I still have no idea cost around how much).

Ordered some chicken wings!
Here comes our stingray!
Ooooooh....
Fresh, juicy and spicy with a dash of lime juice, this is heaven!
The BBQ Stingray is definitely a must-order when you visit this restaurant! And since it is cheaper to eat seafood in KL, we splurged and ordered crabs as well!

Black Pepper Crab
Makan Boy's favourite part of the crab
Wasn't the best black pepper crab I've tasted so far but it's still tasty!

We came back here again the next night and continue our mission of trying food food food! =D

Ordered stingray again muahaha!
Thick chunks.. om nom nom nom nom..
Their chili sauce is the bomb.
Salted Egg Yolk Mantis Prawn (RM $18)
Really tasty salted egg yolk sauce! I like!!

The batter was a 'miss' though.
The salted eg yolk mantis prawn was both a hit and miss with the egg yolk sauce being fabulous and oh-so-fragrant but the batter wasn't quite well done as it was soggy. Either that, or maybe the chef had not fried the prawns long enough.

Crispy Beancurd (RM $12)
Taste a lot like fishcake. -_-
Fried Beef Noodles (RM $7)
Beef noodles was so-so..

Soya beancurd stall
Bought over by their panda to try haha!
Brown sugar syrup
This stall's soya beancurd is no where near the standard of the one we had in Jalan Petaling. The two of us shared a bowl and didn't even finish half. =/

DURIANS!
MANGOSTEENS!
Endorsed by HK foodie!
Makan Boy LOVES DURIANS and I LOVE MANGOSTEENS!

Creamy and sweet durians!
<3!!
And my handful of mangosteens!
AH! SO HAPPY!
They have this exchange policy such that if any of their durians or mangosteens are spoilt or rotten, you get it replaced FOC! I love that they provide gloves and plenty of tissues for their customers! Very affordable prices too!!

Street acts
The beautiful mosque beside our hotel
And a litter of kittens at the hotel doorstep!
The next morning we saw all of them in a cage under the care of a stallholder.
So cute!
Huge paus!
Very adorable and lovable!
Hedgehogs!
SURIA KLCC
The traffic in this mall is crazy! Super crowded on the weekend we went and there was also an event outside the mall.
<3!
I love macarons!

Lovely!
Durian Durian! Love the design of their logo!
Durian Cheese Mousse (RM$6)
Got pretty sick of this after like halfway through. Perhaps they shouldn't have added cheese...

Durian Cream Puffs (RM$??)
=D
Awesome durian cream puffs!!

Rotiboy
Singapore has Rotiboy too and the last I remember having one was in IMM. Not sure if they are still there but these buns are awesome! Mad love for it!

Bun to die for!
OOOOOOOOH!
These buns comes hot with heavenly fragrant butter in each bite. The exterior has a slight crisp and the bun is soft and creamy.

To mark the end of our trip to KL we took a photo with the Twin Towers as the backdrop. <3 <3 <3
Had so much fun during this trip pigging out and enjoying the place with my loved one. Looking forward to going KL again!
