Golden Pillow 933

I love bread and dipping soft fluffy bread to eat with curry is one of the most enjoyable thing to do!

Golden Pillow 933 Chicken in a loaf
Golden Pillow Curry Chicken Bun ($14.80)
Revealing the..
Bomb!
I love how the bread always arrive in the box looking so nicely baked and of course soft and fragrant! The bun is big which is perfect for sharing between 3 - 4 people.

Oh yum.
I can never have enough of the curry chicken hehe! Unlike the thick and coconut rich versions, theirs is more watery and not too spicy! The chicken were also deliciously tender and smooth. However, there were only a few potatoes.

Shiok! =D
Overall, their Golden Pillow is of great value to share and enjoy with friends or family! What better way to have a prosperous Chinese New Year than with golden glimmering red and orange?

Outram Park Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha

There is much hype built around this Bak Kut Teh outlet so Makan Boy and I ventured down to this pretty ulu place and gosh.. it was so packed and busy even after dinner hours when we reached at about 9+!

Really good business
Almost all are foreign workers
Bowls stacked till like that.. hygienic mah..?
The moment you are seated, the staff immediately serves you the fried dough stick and utensils. Quick service I must say.

Dough stick ($2)
However, the dough stick was soggy and cold. Not nice leh.

Only if you've ordered tea
The feast starts!
Waiting time was really short since most of these items were cooked beforehand!

Mee Sua ($1.50)
Their mee sua wasn't exceptionally tasty but at least it was a refreshing choice to eat with bak kut teh. Would have loved the mee sua more if it was stickier because their version tasted just like normal thin beehoon boiled with soup.

Braised Pig Trotter ($6)
Their braised pig trotters are actually pretty nice but we ticked the fat option therefore the trotters came with almost ONLY fats which I didn't enjoy. LOL. Both of us were thinking the lean option would have definitely been a better choice.

Braised Pig Intestine ($6)
I really enjoyed the pig intestines! Soft and very well braised but slightly overpriced.

Salted Vegetable ($2)
Nothing spectacular about their salted vegetable but I like saltish food hehe..

Spare ribs soup ($7)
Porb Ribs Soup ($6)
At one glance, we immediately felt overcharged for such little spare ribs. Between the spare ribs and pork ribs, I could not taste any difference in terms of the meat texture thus pork ribs would be of more value since there's more flesh. Their soup is also very peppery but it gets quite shiok as you down one bowl after another.

Lotsa pepper in the soup's residue but very addictive for me!
Non stop refills!
Overall, Ya Hua is slightly overpriced as the quantity of pork/spare ribs wasn't fantastic. However, they have really good service here as the staff are attentive to make sure the delicious peppery soup is refilled constantly (which kinda makes up for the pricey items)!

Personally, Bak Kut Teh is best eaten when it's a rainy cold day. =D
